Garrets, a leading Marine Catering Management Company has been providing various on-board catering services to Ship Owners and Ship Managers since 1991.

Garrets was formed when it was apparent that there was a void within the shipping industry regarding Catering Management. The need to save money led many shipping companies to dispense with the services of Catering Superintendents, Pursers and Catering Officers. As a consequence, tasks traditionally carried out by these Officers came within the remit of Engineering Superintendents, with most on-board catering administration duties falling to the Master.

Garrets believed that we could help in this vital part of a ship’s management by bridging the gap between ship owners/managers, their sea staff and suppliers, by offering a complete Catering Management Service. Since then Garrets fleet has steadily increased but has kept the same level of personal service that we provided back in 1991.

Garrets, using our extensive experience can guide clients regarding subjects such as: food management, menu planning (for different nationalities) health, safety, hygiene including HACCP.

To help improve the provisions on board and to help with seafarers well being, Garrets introduced a policy of supplying free range chicken and eggs, as well low fat and sugar varieties of popular products. Garrets efforts were recognised in 2010, when they received a Good Chicken and a Good Egg award from “Compassion in World Farming” – a global animal welfare organisation.

It is Garrets intention to continue this policy, with the introduction of free range pork and sustainable sourced fish.

In 2009 Garrets were very proud to receive “The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.”
